CranioSacral Therapy - CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle and incredibly relaxing therapy used to detect and correct imbalances in the craniosacral system, which may be the cause of sensory, motor or neurological dysfunction. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth which make up the cranium down to the sacrum or tail bone. This therapy has been successfully used to treat headaches, neck and back pain, TMJ, chronic fatigue, motor coordination difficulties, eye problems and central nervous system disorders. Trigger Point Therapy (Taut Band Therapy) - an excellent tool in the management of chronic pain, injuries and headaches. They form in response to excessive muscular stress that can result from an accident, repetitive motion, postural habits or emotional stress. Once activated, trigger points force the muscle to shorten, limiting range of motion and creating discomfort. Trigger Point therapy works to locate and deactivate these points with direct, gradual pressure.
Two ways to recognize a trigger point are:
1. They refer pain to another part of the body and 2. Your pain does not respond to standard pain medications.
The good news is that it WILL respond well to Taut Band Therapy!
